As part of the 2021-2027 Cohesion Policy cycle, a new requirement regarding the resilience of infrastructure to climate change impacts has been introduced.
Managing Authorities of Programs must ensure, when selecting operations, the compliance of infrastructures with Article 73, paragraph 2, letter j) of Regulation (EU) 2021/1060, which lays down common provisions on Cohesion Policy Funds.
This means they must guarantee "the climate-proofing of infrastructure investments with an expected lifespan of at least five years." This topic is closely linked to the broader theme of investment evaluation and funding regulations within.
