Recent disruptions in the macroeconomic, geopolitical, and environmental spheres are complicating decision-making for governments and businesses about future jobs, skills, business models, and workforce strategies. Green and digital transitions, along with Generative AI, are identified as key growth drivers. However, concerns about inadequate career guidance and skilling strategies persist in the Mediterranean region, despite numerous initiatives.
The Union for the Mediterranean's 2022 Ministerial Declaration emphasized addressing employment challenges in line with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and the ILO's vision for a "just transition to a green economy."
In response, the UfM Secretariat, supported by German Development Cooperation and the European Training Foundation (ETF), will host the second UfM-ETF Future of Work Workshop in Sarajevo on 26 September 2024. This event, co-funded by the European Commission, will benefit from the expertise of the Bosnian State Agency for Labour (PES) and the Social Innovation Incubator (MUNJA).
Following the first edition's focus on the Platform Economy, this year's Workshop will explore Opportunities, Challenges, and Best Practices in the Future of Work through interactive discussions, engaging a broad spectrum of stakeholders from various sectors.
